Maintaining the Quality of Dermocosmetic Products After Manufacturing

The expiration dates and shelf lives after opening of dermocosmetic products are determined by manufacturers through meticulous and long-term stability testing.

A dermocosmetic product released to the market must be safe throughout its shelf life under the specified conditions and in its final packaging. Additionally, it must be safe for human health during its usage period.

External factors affecting the quality and safety of the dermocosmetic product need to be taken into consideration. There are several important points that must be considered by both the seller and the end user, as well as the manufacturer, to ensure that the product maintains the same physical and chemical structure and efficacy throughout its designated shelf life.

It is not suitable for dermocosmetic products to be stored under direct sunlight.

The ability of a dermocosmetic product to maintain its quality during its usage period, as intended, also depends on the conditions under which the consumer stores the product. Consumers must read the warnings and usage instructions provided on the packaging or Turkish label of the dermocosmetic product, store the product under the conditions specified on the packaging, and use it within the indicated usage period.

Consumers should ensure that the packaging (both inner and outer, if applicable) of the dermocosmetic products they purchase is clean and that the writing on it is clear and legible. Additionally, consumers should pay attention to ensure that the packaging includes the following information as required by regulations: manufacturer’s name and address, names of the ingredients comprising the product, quantity of the product, and depending on the nature of the product, either the expiration date or the period of use after opening as determined by the manufacturer.

Dermocosmetic products should be stored in suitable conditions when not in use to preserve their properties, and products with inner packaging should always have their lids closed to maintain their integrity.

Consumers should not dilute or mix any dermocosmetic product with a different substance or product unless otherwise specified in the product’s usage instructions.

All these important conditions are clearly outlined in the dermocosmetic guidelines established and enforced by the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (TİTCK).
